Summer transfers still in full flow with involvement of big-ticket players

The summer transfer window this year has proven to be a mammoth with some of the biggest names in world football jumping ship or rumoured to do so.  So we bring you some of the latest developments that have taken place in the world of club football.

Putting an end to much speculation about his future, Chilean midfielder Arturo Vidal has signed for German club Bayern Munich on Tuesday. Bayern have completed the transfer for a sum of €40 million in a deal struck with Vidal’s former club Juventus.
The Bundesliga champions had declared last week that they had struck a deal with the Bianconieri over Arturo Vidal. The news had set tongues wagging for Bayern fans and they can now heave a sigh of relief after the transfer was completed as Vidal has attracted much interest from clubs like Manchester City and Arsenal. The 28-year old midfield maestro touched down in Munich on Monday evening to successfully complete his medical to effectively seal the deal between the two clubs. The club had earlier tried to woo Vidal in 2011 while he was playing for Bayer Leverkusen but the Chile medio had decided to move to Juventus instead. In a press release, Vidal admitted it was a new step in his career and was a dream come true for him.

In other news, Paris St. Germain has bid £28.5 million for Manchester United and Argentina midfielder Angel Di Maria.
There have been strong rumours that Di Maria wants to leave Old Trafford and PSG have pounced on the possibility from Day 1. Coach Laurent Blanc is known to be an admirer of Di Maria’s on-field displays and has been proactive in trying to lure the midfielder over to the club. The negotiations have been set back by certain hitches but the PSG coach is confident of sealing the deal. While Blanc looks forward to signing the Manchester United midfielder, the Red Devils’ hopes of adding veteran Spanish defender Sergio Ramos to their roster is all but dashed. Ramos was earlier quite vocal about wanting to leave the club after severe miscommunication between the club’s officials and the player. But Ramos is now set to sign a new deal that will keep him at the club and leave the Old Trafford club high and dry. This puts United in a tight spot as it can either back down from their earlier stand and get altleast £20 million for the De Gea or let him go for nought next season when the time on his contract runs out.
But good news does await the Red Devils as Barcelona forward Pedro is inclined to join Manchester United for a reported figure of £20 million. While Van Gaal and Pedro are both excited about the transfer, Pedro getting more time on the first team and Van Gaal consolidating the frontline, Luis Enrique is not so excited about the transfer because of UEFA sanctions that restrict Barca from making new signings until next year.
