The Bundesliga season began and fans have witnessed much action in these few periods of its commencement. Starting with the latest news that hit football fans is about the renaming of a certain Bundesliga stadium after an unfortunate incident.  A tennis prodigy and an ardent fan, Jhonny Heimes passed away in the March of 2016 after battling cancer for a prolonged time. He was the inspiration behind the success of Lilies bid during the promotion of Bundesliga season 2014-15. A loving and compassionate gesture was done by the SV Darmstadt 98 stadium in the honor of the twenty six years old deceased as they renamed the stadium to Jonathan-Heimes-Stadion am Bollenfalltor. The club captain Aytac Sulu commented saying "Everybody who identified with us, identified with Jonathan,". While the club president of the German Bundesliga, Rudiger Fritsch commented saying that Jonathan was a "strong companion of Darmstadt success." Even though he was sick, the club received a lot ofenergy because of Jonathan's presence over the time.
Now coming on to a lighter and more global note, with the Bundesliga season, the international football has also seen much action. Let's focus on the September round up so far of the Bundesliga internationals in action. As the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier matches have begun already, a number of teams made their mark in the qualifiers. On 5th of September, Georgia lost against Austria for 1-2, Spain made an incredible score of 8-0 against Leichtenstein. The rest four matches saw a draw between Croatia – Turkey, Finland - Kosovo and Ukraine- Iceland for 1-1 in all the matches. Serbia and Republic of Ireland tied for 2-2.

Apart from the big names like Pierre-Emerick Auameyang , Chicharito and Robert Lewandowski, there are many fresh talents coming up. Such as the right-back of RB Leipzig of Lukas Klostermann. The Germany under 21 has one goal and four assists to his name but still requires some improvement. Next is the performance by the Schalke forward Breel Embolo.  The nineteen year old won three Swiss Super Leagues with the FC Basel after which he moved to Schalke where he made one appearances far.

The performance of the right wing of the Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund, Ousmane Dembele  has shown great confidence in his quality performance. This nineteen year old France under-21 International has scored 12 goals in his 26 appearances for his former club and made one appearance in Thomas Tuchel's team so far. The last youngster who made this Bundesliga appearance once so far is the midfielder of Hamburger SV, Alen Halilovic.  Croatia's youngest player to ever make debut at the age of 16 this footballer shows some promising skills to bring in the pitch.

Cristiano Ronaldo to Miss La Liga Opener of Real Madrid on Sunday

The La Liga giants Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo is reported to miss the opening match of Real Madrid in the La Liga commencement because of an injury he suffered in the Euro 2016. The Portuguese star suffered an injury to his knee during his tackle with Dimitri Payet, the West Ham star during the Euro 2016 final match against France. With just eight minutes kicking in, the Real Madrid star was seen leaving in tears on a stretcher. Even though he made an attempt to recover and get up from his injury, Ronaldo was seen moving out of trying to maintain a brave face when he eventually turned emotional and teary all the way. As the Real Madrid surely suffered a blow as the La Liga just ahead, the thirty one year old vowed to return back stronger.
Ronaldo posted a video on his Instagram where he addressed to his fans about his knee ligament injury. He said in the video about how thankful he was to his fans and the will be coming back much stronger. Ronaldo's injury was commented on by many including his sister who had a rather specific comment to say. His sister commented that her brother's knee injury was as that of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and the tears she had were similar to daggers to her heart. She further posted on her Instagram saying that God is great and her brother had cried during then because of not being able to help his fellow teammates and the beloved people.
As the three time Ballon d'Or winner spoke about his victory and hard work to reach his success goal, he said that nobody believed in the national team. Ronaldo had won everything with the various clubs but not with his national team. Therefore, as Portugal won the trophy, it was a fruit of their sacrifice of many years. Ronaldo expressed how proud and happy he was and thanked all the immigrants who believed in him.
And with the La Liga campaign of Real Madrid opening on Sunday in San Sebastian, it seems like the player will still not be able to make it to the match. Real Madrid has suffered few other losses with Karim Benzema out due to hip problems, it seems like the team's performance is on Gareth Bale's shoulder as he will have to lead his team. Christiano Ronaldo was seen training to AMrdid's base in Valdeba after his post Euro 2016 break last week. The manager Zinedine Zidane commented saying that they are not going to be looking for a replacement midfielder as it becomes a mixture of complication. He commented on Cesc being a great player even though not straightforward. As he will end up with about four players in a squad who are not being selected it would be difficult to add another like the former Barcelona footballer Fabregas due to difficulty in various options.

German Police Force Arrest ISIS Threat to Bundesliga

Germany has been one of the most targeted sites of the terrorist attack in 2016. With the failed attack  by the detonation of a bomb at an outside bar in Ansbach, Bavaria where the asylum seeker ended up killing himself for not being able to attend a music concert. Later in the month, a German teenager with ancestry in Iran shot and killed nine people in Munich, Germany has been a constant threat to terrorism. While in Wuerzburg a seventeen year old had been shot by the police after injuring five people. However, in the recent days, the DPA informed that a suspect had been suspected to be in connection with alleged threats against the Bundesliga, the German football league which is equal to the English Premier League in Germany.
As last reported, the state ministry of Rhineland Palatinate affirmed that a terror arrest had been made in the Mutterstadt area however, they did not mention if he was a member of the Islamic State Militant Group yet. The man arrested is a twenty four year old was suspected to have plotted attack a terror attack before the commencement of the Bundesliga football championship. Later on, it was confirmed by the German Special Forces team BERLIN (AFP) that the man is indeed connected to the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria being a Syrian himself. The ministry said that even though there are no concrete threats as such, there have been indications of some planning of terrorism during the start of the German football tournament.
The suspect is an asylum seeker from Syria who entered Germany during the starting of 2016. According to the Germany's department of distribution of refugees the suspect has been living in North Rhine-Westphalia so far. According to the Suedwestrundfunk news channel, photos of Syrian fights were found in his home and computer though it was unclear if he had taken the pictures himself. But the Duisburg prosecutors refrained from commenting any further. It has also been known from other sources of German media that the individual is a high ranking member of the militant terror group.
With the Bundesliga to start its opening round from no less than 26th August 2016, it has not been known and no indications have been found yet of any stadium being targeted in particular for an Islamic attack. As mentioned before, a tip-off from a prison inmate helped in the tracking of the suspect. Several terror plots have been unfolded in the recent months of this year. During the Paris terror attacks, a friendly match had to be evacuated minutes before its starting between Holland and Germany. The North African terror cell had been planning an attack with a three-bomb detonation and planting of explosives near the Hannover's Neidersaschsenstadion where the railway station was the primary target along with a bus stop. Also, several Munich subways were closed due to terror attack suspect during the New Years.

Therefore, Germany has been on high alert security since the series of attacks have been foiled over the last twelve months.

Is Paul Pogba's Transfer to Manchester United confirmed and Set?

As the session of the Premier League approaches thereby, decreasing the span of the transfer window for the Premier League every football fanatic is being kept on the edge with the latest and rapidly changing moves of the Premier League giants. With every club on the move to regroup and retool their squad for the most awaited and most viewed football tournament in history, the Premier League starting from 13th of August, 2016 and running until 21st May 2017 this summer is one of the most exciting parts of the tournament. With more football fantasies and speculations weaved than during the game, with the bids, deals, and contracts brimming with various speculations and desires every club of the Premier League is on the move.
With the Juventus star Paul Pogba being one of the most sought midfielders by the various clubs, deals are rumored to be set and defined just within the span of few days. The former Manchester United player who called United as his ‘first family' joined the Juventus on a free transfer on 3rd July 2012. Pogba scored his first goal for the Juventus in a 2-0 win over Napoli and was the key protagonist over the win over Lazio in the 2013 Italian Supercoppa over 1-4. Included in the list of the ten most promising young players in Europe by the Guardian Pogba has risen through the popularity and been the center of praise and attention over the four years he has been in Juventus so far.
As Paul Pogba's name has been shortlisted amongst the other nine men for the 2015 UEFA Best Player in Europe Award and awarded the prestigious number-10 t-shirt Pogba has become one of the most sought out midfielders. With this year's session to be in motion within fifteen days, the United Manchester has shown a great deal of interest in Pogba. With them offering the former audacious deals of €110M including add-ons and a bonus, the contract is rumored to be official in the next forty-eight hours after Pogba's agent Mino Raiola reportedly met the Juventus chief executive Giuseppe Marotta in Milan where supposedly a meeting via conference call was held with the United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward.

The rumors now seem to take a greater share of reality with the posting of Pogba's latest Instagram picture. In the midst of the black and white image, he was wearing red boots and a red cap which might just be one of the biggest hints the Red Devil fans have gotten so far indicating Pogba's return to his ‘first family'. While Pogba has publicly refused to discuss his future plans, we cannot help but keep thinking and hoping he might just be striking the contract as the midfielder to the United Manchester in nothing less than two days. As time races by, every football enthusiast is looking for the Premier League to commence finally and for the Red Devil fans it will be few days of rapid curiosity over what's finally being decided.

Epl clubs steal the show

The transfer market has always been an exciting phase for the football fans from all over the world. The most exciting part of the transfer market is the huge names moving from a certain club to another. This year to the clubs has been very busy in signing big names to strengthen their squad. But this year the English clubs have made the most of the transfer season till date. The Spanish clubs has not been so impressive in signing players for the upcoming season. This time the managers involved in the premier league are all high profile managers and it is going to be one of the most interesting seasons to watch. The premier league has the likes of Jose Mourinho, Claudio Ranieri, Antonio Conte, Pep Guardiola, Arsene Wenger, Jurgen Klopp and Pocchetino. All these managers are looking to add talent to their squads and the battle has already begun.
The first big surprise of the transfer market came when Zlatan Ibrahimovich announced his next destination on twitter. And guess what? It was the theatre of dreams. Manchester United was after the Swedish international for a long time and finally sealed the deal earlier this month. Mourinho and Ibrahimovich are considered a pair made in heaven as they won the European title together with Inter Milan back in 2010. Ibrahimovich’s inclusion will certainly boost up a young United side to challenge for the title. With Mourinho back in the premier league but with a new club it would be quite interesting to see how his plans turn out to be.
The next big name was roped in by the blues. And it was Michy Batshuayi from Marseille. Batshuayi is a talented Belgian international who uses his two feet to play which is always an advantage. He featured in the Belgian team for the Euro Cup and has shown glimpses of his capabilities. Chelsea new boss Antonio Conte has told in a press conference that he is very happy to have Batshuayi in his team as Batshuayi is a strong and talented player who would definitely add value to the Chelsea front line.
United doubled their signing by roping in Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Dortmund for 26.3 million which was an amazing signing for the red devils. Mkhitaryan has continuously impressed for the yellow and black jersey and is a player of high calibre. Mourinho signed the midfielder to add some attacking flair to his side. On the other hand Chelsea too roped in N’golo Kante for 32 million who is a defensive midfielder. Kante was key to Leicester city’s title triumph last season and was also wanted by arsenal. But Chelsea edged the race to sign Kante as Blue boss Antonio Conte’s words impressed the midfielder. Former Chelsea legend Makelele has hailed Kante as his successor and thinks that he can play an important role for Chelsea this upcoming season.

Manchester City landed Spain international Nolito for 22 million as Pep Guardiola took over the blue side of Manchester. So these were the most high profile transfers of this month in the transfer market and we cannot wait for the season to start.

Portugal clinches trophy without Cristiano

Portugal beat France 1-0 in the final of the Euro Cup 2016 thanks to a wonderful goal from the substitute Eder. Portugal won the European championship for the first time beating the hosting nation France. Portugal has faced a lot of criticism due to their non-impressive displays on the way to the final. But they kept finding a way and clinched the title without their talisman Cristiano Ronaldo on the pitch. The real Madrid star did start the match but suffered an injury during the course of the game and limped off the field in the first half itself. His tears told the whole story as it was quite clear that he was would not be able to continue following Dimitri Payet’s tackle.
Nobody expected Portugal to win the game from there as Ronaldo’s injury came as a huge blow for them. But the Portuguese fans were still dreaming with their broken hearts. However the first half belonged solely to France who had the best opportunities. Griezmann’s header was excellently pushed away from goal by Rui Patricio and Sissoko’s shot was well blocked by the Portuguese keeper. Giroud also had a half chance from the corner but his header was straight at Patricio. The win was Portugal’s maiden win against France and it came at the stage when both teams needed it the most.

France had 17 attempts on the Portuguese goal but perhaps luck was not on their side. France could not take advantage of their domination and failed to score within the regulation time which helped Portugal gain confidence as the game progressed. Gignac was the guilty party who hit the post at the closing stages of regulation time.  They went all square into extra time. In the 109th minute substitute Eder shook the France defense and the whole nation as he hit the target from 20 yards wide and scored. The strike was so good that even a goal keeper of Hugo Lloris’s standard could not prevent the ball from hitting the nets. Despite some nervy and cagey dying moments Portugal managed to hold on to their lead and lift the title in front of a jam-packed stadium. France’s hopes were shattered and the whole nation came to a standstill. It was a heartbreaking loss if we look at France’s performances in the previous rounds. They were excellent in the previous rounds but failed to live up to the expectations at the final step. The party spoilers, Portugal celebrated their victory in style as Ronaldo joined the party with a sore left knee. This was arguably the best season he has had where he won two major trophies, one with his club and the other with his country. But we all have to admit that it was a stellar performance from Portugal without their talisman which got them the trophy. They showed real character and class as they portrayed their potential even without Ronaldo on Sunday. Euro 2016 round up

The Euro cup has been so far a mouth-watering contest between 24 of Europe’s best teams. Earlier this competition was played between 16 teams but this year the numbers saw an increase. France are the hosts of the 2016 Euro Championships and they have hosted the competition in style. All the matches have been competitive as we have seen both dominant performances and upsets. We have seen underdogs knocking out big names and also big names routing the smaller nations. After two fierce rounds of football the 8 countries who could make it to the quarters were France, Germany, Iceland, Portugal, Wales, Poland, Italy and Belgium.
The first quarterfinal saw Poland and Portugal locking horns. The match ended 0-0 after 120 minutes of merciless football and it all went down to spot kicks. Poland are quite well known for their abilities from spot kicks whereas Portugal’s main man had already missed one in the group stages. But football is an uncertain and cruel game. Ronaldo took the first penalty for his country and scored. So did Lewandowski for Poland. But in the end it was Portugal’s Ricardo Quaresma who scored the winning penalty for Portugal taking then to the semis. Wales faced off against an in form Belgian side in the second quarter final. Belgium drew first blood through Radja Nainggolan who hit the target from outside the D-box. But Wales’s captain Ashley Williams scored the equalizer for wales and they later added two more to their total to edge past Belgium 3-1. This was one of the most shocking results of the Euros.
Italy has been impressive throughout the tournament as Italy and Chelsea’s new boss Antonio Conte produced a master class in the round of 16 to knock out holders Spain. Conte is known for his fierce defensive tactics and he exactly did the same against Germany in the quarters. The match went to penalties and both Italy and Germany seemed awful from the penalty spot. It was really a horror show from the spot. 6 of the first 10 penalties were not scored. But finally Germany’s Jonas Hector took Germany to the semis after Darmian’s shot was saved by Manuel Neuer. In the last match of the quarters France routed Iceland as they scored 5 past the underdogs. France looked unstoppable and showed no mercy to their opponents. Iceland bowed out of the Euros after an impressive show of their own which included the knocking out of England. So the 4 teams who advanced to the semis were Portugal, Wales, Germany and France.
Wales were considered firm favourites to head to the finals as Portugal were yet to win a match in 90 minutes in the 2016 Euros. But things don’t always happen as we think and Portugal emerged victorious 2-0 over Wales. Portugal's talisman Ronaldo scored and assisted in the game which is a big boost for them. Germany faces France in the most awaited match in the Euros so far in the second semi Final. It would be quite interesting to see who makes it to the final against Portugal.

Messi Quits International!!

A heartbroken Lionel Messi announced his retirement from international football on the morrow of his defeat in the finals of Copa America at the hands of the Chilean behemoth.
Arguably the best player in the world, Messi had been part of four international outings with his national team, none of which were successful ventures. His only major international honour in his country's colours was gold at the 2008 Olympic Games. In spite of having a prolific record at his club Barcelona, with whom he holds eight La Liga titles and four Champions League cups, his retirement at this stage will hold him short of his compatriot Diego Maradona, who was the one who singlehandedly led Argentina to the victor's seat at the 1986 World Cup.
However, he does hold the record for the highest ever goals scored for his country with 55 goals to his name over a total of 113 Argentine caps since 2005, surpassing the previous record of 54 goals by Gabriel Batistuta. Five of those goals came from this year’s edition of the Copa America itself.
Reacting after their loss to Chile, Messi was reported to be inconsolable and in no small part due to his failure to convert his shot during the penalty shootout. If he had managed to convert it though, the headlines might have been altogether different today. Messi blamed himself for the loss, as all greats are wont to do. The decision may have been taken in the heat of the moment, as Messi himself admitted that he was utterly disappointed at the outcome, since he wanted this more than anything else but since it eluded him once again, there was nothing more he could do and that maybe it was time he stepped back.
Messi’s retirement may just be the tip of the iceberg of woes for the Argentine national team, with reports circulating that a host of other players were planning to follow suit. Names like Javier Mascherano, Sergio Aguero, and Lucas Biglia are just to point out a few.
According to other sources, the Argentina FA is quite frankly, one of the most corrupt football governing bodies in the world. With convicted and indicted board members as well as chairmen, and reports of misappropriated funds galore, it’s no wonder the top players are choosing just step back and let things sort out first.

Whether Messi’s retirement is going to be a permanent blow to the capabilities of the argentine team or just a flesh wound to the hearts of fans all over the world remains to be seen. Much graver decisions have been made in the heat of the moment, and when it comes to someone as emotional as Messi, this is expected since he plays his heart out on the field every single day. IT will be an extremely difficult sight to watch the team walk out on to the field in next year’s world cup, without the smiling face of the to be 30 year old forward leading the way.

The script goes awry at the ongoing European Championships

The group stage has come to an end at the Euros and it’s been eventful to say the least. While the average goals scored per game remained a lowly 1.92, there’s no denying the quality of football that has been on display in the tournament so far. More significantly, the underdog fever seems to have spilled right over from the Barclays Premier League to the ongoing tournament. While this is the first edition of the Euros to have 24 teams vying for top honours, UEFA’s new rule for third placed teams to qualify seems to have brought the best out of lower-ranked teams. And boy have they managed to upset the apple cart!
Iceland unanimously tops the list of underdogs that impressed. With a population of a little over 300,000 and a small pool of professional and mostly semi-professional players, they began their campaign by ruffling the feathers of Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal in a gritty 1-1 draw. To prove it wasn’t by accident, they drew again with higher-ranked Hungary before showing incredible character in a decisive 2-1 win against Austria clinched by a stoppage time goal. And with the kind of spirit and clutch plays they have made, there’s every reason to call them the Leicester of the Euros. The Republic of Ireland clearly seemed to be on their way out after picking up a point from the first two games, drawing 1-1 with Sweden and going down 0-3 to Belgium. But the hardened Irishmen just refused to go out of the competition when a late header by Robbie Brady stunned Italian fans as the Azzuri went down to the Irish by the solitary goal and Ireland went through to the next stage.
Neighbors Northern Ireland are not far behind as they made full use of the third-place rule and booking their spot in the Round of 16. They defeated Ukraine 2-0 and lost out narrowly to both Poland and Germany by identical margins of 0-1, putting up impressive performances in the group stage. Striker Kyle Lafferty has already grabbed a few headlines but interestingly, it’s goalie Michael McGovern who’s creating the most waves in the football world, drawing comparisons with some of the greats and also being hailed as one of the reasons why they’ve maintained a decent goal difference. The Slovakians will also be looking to make some headway going into the next stage of the tournament. Team talisman and striker Marek Hamsik has already become the darling of the Slovakian fans after the striker’s crucial strike against Russia took the team to the next stage, having lost 1-2 to Wales and going on to a goalless draw against England.

But champion teams are champions for a reason and it would probably be a little too optimistic to hope for a Leicester-like story for any of these minnows. France are taking shape with the likes of Dimitri Payet and Paul Pogba. England’s Jamie Vardy is regularly blitzing across opposition defenders and Spain’s Andres Iniesta has just aged like wine, seems to get better with age. With teams loaded with talent, exciting football is yet to come.

The 2016 European Championships could become a part of football lore

This European Championship promises loads of exciting matchups and we can’t wait to see who comes out on top. Looking on as Leicester City lifted the Premier League trophy has been a huge confidence booster for underdogs who now firmly believe that they can win major trophies if they play with discipline and show character on the field. The excitement of Club football is sure to spill over into the Euros as we see our favourite stars take the field when the tournament kicks off at the Stade de France on the 10th of June.
England continues its trend of looking like the strongest team on paper, but unlike yesteryears, this team is based on solid foundation of young talent. With the likes of 20-year old Dele Alli, 21-year old Harry Kane, Eric Dier and Jack Wilshere manning the front, the English team looks surprisingly young and exciting to watch. What Roy Hodgson must remain aware of, is the defence, that has seemed scrappy at best and prone to misfiring. The lack of major silverware could also hamper English chances of getting through the home stretch of the tournament. Portugal under coach Fernando Santos look to be a determined lot, putting up great defensive displays and not losing a single qualifying match under the new coach. The talismanic Cristiano Ronaldo is still in his prime even though Portugal are not the side they used to be when they made the finals only to lose out to Greece in 2004. But if their showing in pre-Euro friendlies was any indication, the team is not one to go down without a fight. Special mention to 40-something Ricardo Carvalho, who is back on international duty and put on a gritty display in the last friendly against England.
Hosts France must capitalize on the home ground advantage and a side that boasts of sensational players coming off excellent seasons with their respective clubs. While youngster Paul Pogba remains the highlight, don’t forget to watch out for Premier League sensations N’golo Kante and Dimitri Payet are sure to bring their A-game after leading their clubs to great success in the Premier League. Add to that the striking prowess of Oliver Giroud and Antoine Griezmann and you know France could very well take the trophy home this time around. Amidst calls of the end of an era, Spain look to regain some lost glory after a forgettable showing in the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Veterans Andre Iniesta, ‘keeper Iker Casillas take the field amidst rumours of international retirement. But you can never count the tiki taka players out, especially when striker Alvaro Morata, defenders Juanfran and Hector Bellerin and midfielders Thiago Alcantara and Koke are coming off great seasons with their respective clubs. Expect some veteran action from Cesc Fabregas as well.

We do expect some of the lesser known teams to make a mark though. Slovakia is led by the experienced Martin Skrtel and Marek Hamsik could really weave some magic in the midfield. Switzerland will be anchored by the promising Granit Xhaka and Xherdan Shaqiri. Wales could come out all guns blazing under captain Gareth Bale’s guidance. The Euros have a lot to live up to this time around.

Euro 16 Football Competition Could Be Target for Terrorists

Euro 16 competition is to be hosted by France from 10th June and the US security agency has already warned that the tournament could be a target for the terrorists.

Euro Tournament

Euro tournament is organized every four years. In the upcoming Euro tournament, 24 nations have qualified to contest. The number of participants has been increased to 24 from 16. The participating teams will be divided into six groups and two from each group will qualify for the knockout round. Sports tourism is on rise and it is expected that a larger number of football-crazy fans will reach France to enjoy the tournament. The passionate fans from neighboring as well as participating countries as well as other nations are supposed to visit France on the event of the grand football gala of Europe.

Spain is taking part in the tournament as a two-time defending champs.

Possibility of Terrorist Attack

The competition will be held for one month, attracting a larger number of sports-loving tourists from all over the globe. France will be hosting the event after beating other two bidders Turkey and Italy to be named as the country to organize the biggest European football ceremony. The country is hosting the event for the third time in the history of European championship. The matches will be hosted at 10 stadiums across 10 cities of France. More than 90,000 security staff including soldiers, police and private agents will be deployed all over the country for monitoring every activity in and around the stadium.

Paris, the capital city of France, has already been under threat from the militants following simultaneous assault on concert hall, stadium, bars and restaurants earlier this year. The gruesome attack caused death to 130 people and left many more seriously injured. Neighboring country Belgium had suicide blasts at Brussels Airport as well as a metro station in March and it left 32 people dead. ISIS claimed responsibility for attacks in both Paris and Brussels. Nearly 1 million foreign fans are supposed to arrive in France to watch the tournament that will be contested by Europe’s best national teams.

The US State Department has warned its France visiting citizens about the dangers of possible terrorist attacks along the length and breadth of Europe.

What is new about US terror warning?

The US terror department routinely issues travel alerts worldwide but they are doing it only for the third time in two decades for Europe. According to America, the terrorists could strike at famous tourist destinations, commercial sites, public places including restaurants. However, this time, the Euro 16 event is believed to be a target for the terrorists.

Some experts have said that it is nothing but a routine alert, especially for those places that were previously targeted by the terrorists. The Foreign Office in the United Kingdom has issued a warning of high-level terrorist attacks in France. The country has extended its state of emergency to include every tournament. France also has a plan of anti-drone technology deployment as a part of their extensive precaution.

The Chosen One may start a new United era

It’s official. Manchester United have finally appointed former Chelsea, Inter and Porto boss Jose Mourinho as manager on a contract of 3 years, extendable up to 2020 which reportedly pays out more than £20 million to Mourinho. After months of speculation on the part of some people and wishful thinking on some others, United have ended their association with Dutchman Louis Van Gaal before welcoming Mourinho on board. Mourinho though is coming in on the back of a nightmare Premier League season that saw Chelsea flirt with relegation and resulted in an unceremonious sacking of ‘The Special One’ as Chelsea boss. United loyalists have shown their doubts over the appointment of the former Chelsea boss but the support has been overwhelming with many saying this could be a real reversal for both Mourinho and United’s fortunes.
With history and tradition behind them, United have not really been United ever since Sir Alex left the helm in 2013, with the recent FA Cup victory being the only title they can boast of. While Mourinho’s reign may not see United playing football that is easy on the eyes, they will surely become a force to be reckoned with. The master tactician that he is, Mourinho is bound to see United play compelling and tactical football that brings results even though it may not draw gasps from the audience. His credentials can’t be ignored. With 8 Premier League titles, 2 Champions League trophies, and 7 domestic titles under his belt, the Special One could well herald an era of post-Ferguson greatness at United.
With the arrival of Mourinho, United can also expect explosive names in World Football to follow in his wake. Zlatan Ibrahimovic has already dropped hints and smiles when asked about renewing his ties with old Inter-coach Mourinho at United. Mourinho has reportedly been given a £300 million war chest that could well be utilized to bring in some talent. Alvaro Morata might fetch a £40 million price tag which would strengthen United’s forward line. Defence has been a major cause of grief for United and Mourinho wants no more of it. On his wish list he has already added Everton’s John Stones, Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane, Roma’s Kostas Manolas and Ezequiel Garay of Zenit St. Petersburg to reinforce the United defence. And in a move that could well change the complete demographics of the Premier League, Chelsea have been approached by United to let Mourinho-favourite Eden Hazard make a move to United which would make United a force to reckon with.
There are a number of detractors of course who would say Mourinho is past his prime and he does violate one of United’s fundamental way of ensuring they stay one of the premier clubs in the competition history of all major tournaments. United’s famed academy has produced some of the illustrious names in club football and occasionally international football. Jose Mourinho on the other hand is all for signing big names to stay at the top of the competition. This does pose a serious question but United fans can hope to regain some lost glory.

Final day drama ensues in the Premier League

No one at the beginning of the season could have predicted the top 4 of the league accurately. And staying true to its nature, the last day of the league pitched in with its own helping of last-minute hits, misses and gaffes as the Premier League drew to a close. A sight to behold was that of a triumphant Claudio Ranieri walking onto the pitch to receive the guard of honour from former club Chelsea that he had left quite unceremoniously. Leicester’s last fixture of the season at Stamford Bridge though, turned out to be the usual display of grit and gumption that have resulted in the Foxes sitting 10 points clear of second-placed Arsenal at the end of this season, giving Leicester its first Premier League triumph and a story that is sure to find a place on the silver screen soon enough. The match ended 1-1 with Chelsea unable to hold on to an early advantage when Cesc Fabregas converted a penalty, with Danny Drinkwater scoring spectacularly from 30 yards to equalize.
West Ham United’s hope to see European Competition next season were dashed as the Hammers went down 2-1 to Stoke City even after taking the lead early on through a Michail Antonio header. Hosts Stoke City though, equalized 10 minutes into the second half as midfielder Giannelli Imbula fired home at the Brittannia Stadium. Heartbreak ensued for Slaven Bilic and his men as Biram Diouf came off the bench to score for Stoke with only 2 minutes left on the clock. They will now hope Manchester United win their FA Cup final against Crystal Palace, which would mean they automatically qualify for Europa League and West Ham go through to Europe despite having finished 7th in the League.
A full-strength Southampton side found the net 4 times and conceded a goal against Crystal Palace on the final day to take the Saints to the 6th position in the League and ensure a spot in the Europa League next season. While Alan Pardew rested key players for the summit clash against Manchester United, Coach Ronald Koemans came out all guns blazing for the Saints. Sadio Mane opened the scoring for the Saints to set the tone for the encounter. Coach Koeman then made his intention clear of securing the final European spot when he brought on striker Graziano Pelle, who dutifully doubled the Saints’ lead in the next 16 minutes when winger Cuco Martina swung in a cross from the right wing which Pelle headed in past Palce keeper Speroni. This ensured that fans at St. Mary’s would definitely get to witness European football at the ground next season and an improved finish from the last season.

It’s been the season of a lifetime for football fans and it was sheer delight to see underdogs finish above the classical Big 4 teams. The summer transfer window will now heat up with each team looking to bolster their chances in Europe and at home. Several teams have bid goodbye to their managers and players while others have begun an association that one can only hope turns out to be a long and fruitful one. Fans will not be disappointed.
