The football
World Cup is a one of its kind event which has attracted millions of spectators
to the stadiums as well as through the television satellites and worldwide
network. Football is a popular sport among two hundred countries of the world
and each of these countries send in their best team to compete in the
qualifiers and gain a spot in order to play in the World Cup. The most
prestigious event of football will be organised in Russia in 2018.
The country
is already gearing up for the event.
The countdown to
the football World Cup 2015 has started in Russia. The hosts are gearing up for
the event by improving the condition of the stadium and the grounds while
setting up special organisations and committees to attend to the specific
affairs of the World Cup. The qualifiers across the six confederations have
started with two hundred nine teams competing against one another to book their
spot in the World Cup and be a part of the historical event.
South Americans battle it out to book their tickets to Russia:
Brazil, Uruguay
and Equador register wins as they remain buoyant in the South American World
Cup qualifiers. Brazil snubbed Peru 3-0 as Douglas Costa, Renato Augusto and
Felipe Luis scored a goal each. Chilean star Alexis Sanchez hit out at the Uruguayan
side after being defeated 3-0 due to goals from Godin, Alvaro Periera and
Martin Caceres. Uruguay are at second place in the table behind the leaders
Ecuador who are having a dream run leading in the qualifiers and registered
another win.
Australia ride high on confidence:
The Australian
side completely outplayed the Bangladesh football side in the World Cup
qualifier as the hosts were handed a 4-0 defeat in Dhaka. Tim Cahill went all
guns blazing to score a hat-trick and Mile Jedinak added a fourth one to the
score line. They are on the top of the Asia group after arch rivals Jordan was
defeated 1-0.
Russia’s Local Organising Committee (LOC) trying to learn from Brazil 2014:
The Russian LOC
met with representatives from Brazil as the officials of the 2014 World Cup
shared their experiences with them. Russia is set to host the 2018 World Cup
and is looking forward to provide a flawless performance as far as organisation
is concerned. Fifa representatives also made an inspection of the Luzhniki
stadium that is going to be one of the venues for the World Cup. The 2017
Confederations Cup will be the litmus test for Russia before the World Cup news as they are trying to consolidate the infrastructure of the stadiums. The
mascot for the World Cup will be revealed in a few days time. The Minister of
Sports of Russian Federation, Vitaly Mutko seems to be excited at the
opportunity of being able to organise the World Cup. He has set up the best
professionals at work and is also seeking the help of voluntary organisations.
